Booktag: Mid-Year Book Freakout

I did this tag 2 years ago on my old blog and I have seen it going around again so I thought it would be fun to give it another go as well! To be honest, I should be writing reviews because I am extremely behind on writing them… I am going to keep procrastinating some more though because this tag is more fun πŸ™‚

Best book you’ve read so far in 2018

The first one is already really difficult for me to answer… I have reread my favourite book this year which is the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern so naturally that is the best one I have read so far but it doesn’t really count πŸ™‚ I think the best book I have read so far this year that wasn’t a reread is Furyborn by Claire Legrand.Β It was just such an epic and phenomenal new fantasy book! I had been looking forward to it for quite a long time and it was every bit as good as I hoped it would be!

Best sequal you’ve read so far in 2018

That would definitely have to be Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab.Β I absolutely loved This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet was even better in my opinion! It was so much darker and it absolutely broke my heart without remorse. I am incredibly sad that this series is already over but I don’t think my heart could have handled another book like this…

New release you haven’t read but want to

Ohh there are so many new releases this year that I want to read so badly but still haven’t even bought… Smoke in the Sun by Renee Ahdieh, Legendary by Stephanie Garber, Sky in the Deep by Adrienne YoungΒ just to name a few. I could go on for a while with this list πŸ™‚

Most anticipated release for the second half of 2018

That is, without a doubt, Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor! I am absolutely obsessed with Strange the Dreamer and I simply cannot wait until I have Muse of Nightmares into my hands!

Biggest dissapointment

Honestly, that is A Court of Frost and Starlight for me… And please don’t hate me for saying it but it just felt a little off to me and it was quite pointless… still fun to read though but unnecessary…

Biggest surprise

Vicious by V.E. Schwab and Scythe by Neal Shusterman. When I started reading both of these books, I had no idea what to expect. Despite not knowing what to expect they both surprised me immensely in the best way possible as I sure never expected how big of an impact these book would have on me, they posed some really thought-provoking questions that stayed with me for days after I finished them.

New favourite author

Probably Neal Shusterman, I absolutely fell in love with Scythe! It was just so well written! I can’t wait to read more books by this phenomenal author! Another new favourite of mine is Claire Legrand, like I mentioned before, Furyborn was everything I could hope for and more!

Newest fictional crush

hahah this was by far the easiest question! My answer is Kaden from the Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson.Β I fell in love with him from the first time he was described in the book and by then I didn’t even know if he was the assassin or the prince! I do know now and I still adore him!

Newest favourite character

Kaden of course! πŸ™‚

Book that made you cry

As of right now, I haven’t cried over a book yet this year but knowing what I am planning to read in the second half of this year I will probably bawl my eyes out multiple times!

Book that made you happy

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern because rereading it always puts a smile to my face. It is just so beautifully written! I can never get enough of it!

Favourite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen so far this year

I haven’t seen any yet… Which is really bad because I wanted to see Love Simon so badly! I will have to read the book first though because I still haven’t done that either…. I am a horrible human being, I know πŸ™‚

Favourite review you’ve written so far this year

Scythe by Neal Shusterman as it is the only real review I have written this year so far… As I said, I am quite behind on writing reviews… Nonetheless, I am very proud of this one despite it being the only one… πŸ™‚

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year

A Treasury of Irish Fairy and Folktales which is one of the Barnes and Noble leatherbound series. It is absolutely stunning! I allowed myself to buy it after I got home from a short holiday to Dublin, Ireland. I love folk and fairytales so much, I can’t wait to start reading it!

What books do you need to read by the end of this year

Ahh there are so many books that I want to read before this year is over! I still have to read the entire Shades of Magic Trilogy, The Conquerer’s saga, the Falling Kingdoms seriesΒ and the list goes on and on and on…

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers πŸ™‚ What would your answers be to some of these question? And if you would like to do this tag yourself, consider youself tagged! ❀

  1. I loved reading your answers to this tag. And I totallllly know the “behind on reviews” struggle. I’m procrastinating writing my book talk about the Grisha trilogy right this second lol. I reallllly need to read The Kiss of Deception, Legendary, and Strange the Dreamer, but also pretty much every other book you mentioned in this tag lol oooops.
